International Women’s Day of Action – 8th March 2022

The Wait of the World

The climate crisis is a feminist/womanist issue.

Women carry the weight of the climate crisis and the burden of waiting for the world to act. Women in most affected regions of the world are already suffering from human caused climate change. Women in every part of the world will disproportionately suffer in a world of mass suffering and extinction. Patriarchy, sexism, and misogyny seem to increase when society is in a state of stress or collapse – we have seen this during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the rise of domestic violence, and we see it in situations of war and other crises.

We therefore call on all women to take climate action on International Women’s Day – 8th March 2022 – under the theme ‘The Wait of the World‘.

To find out if there is an action happening near you, see the map below. If not, organise one yourself; no action is too small! You can fill in the form at the bottom of this page to ask for your event to be added to the map.

Please self-organise and please take photos – with permission, we will use these to lobby politicians on your behalf. Each group will have its own focus and will do this in different ways, but all are welcome to take up this call.

See here for some prop ideas for your day of climate action!

If you would like to be part of a video explaining how climate change affects you and why you think it is important to join this day of action, please see instructions here.
